Mariah the Scientist Expresses Frustration Over Denied Jail Visit with Young Thug on Their 3rd Anniversary
R&B singer Mariah the Scientist took to Instagram Live on Sunday, October 6, to share her frustrations after being denied a jail visit with her partner, Young Thug, on their third anniversary. The couple, whose real name is Jeffery Williams, has faced challenges during his incarceration, and this missed opportunity hit hard for Mariah.
“I drove all the way to the jail,” she explained to her fans. “It’s 30 minutes from the city. I even stopped at Party City to get a ‘Happy Anniversary’ sign to tape up in the background since it’s through a screen.”
Unfortunately, her plans fell apart when she arrived at the facility. “I was told, ‘The system is down,’” she lamented. “I’m devastated. I’m looking cute, with my hair done up in a ponytail, and I can’t see my man on our anniversary. That is so crazy.”
Despite her disappointment, Mariah is determined to try again in the future. “I had to let you in on my trials and tribulations. It’s always some s–t, huh?” she said, expressing her sadness but also her resolve to keep supporting Young Thug.
Young Thug has been incarcerated since May 2022 as part of the ongoing YSL RICO trial, which has become the longest trial in Georgia’s history. Throughout this time, Mariah has remained a steadfast support for him, attending court dates and continuing to connect through their music, including tracks like “Ride” and “Walked In.”
In a previous interview, Mariah shared how they maintain their bond, saying, “I talk to him every day, all day.” She expressed that his encouragement keeps her motivated during his time behind bars. “If I didn’t stay busy, I would probably feel more down and out about it,” she added. “He’s very encouraging and supportive, always pushing me to do more.”
As Mariah navigates her music career, she continues to advocate for her partner, showcasing the strength of their relationship despite the distance and challenges they face.
